School Improvement Services for Partner Academies

The successes of the Tennyson Learning Community attracts new schools who support our ethos and recognise the significant impact of our school improvement approach. In response to requests from schools and academies we are pleased to be able to offer key elements of our school improvement package to non-academy members.

Our highly successful Peer Reviews involve two or more (depending upon the size of the school) highly experienced Leaders who work with your Headteacher, members of your Local Governing Body and key staff to undertake an in-depth review of up to three key priority areas. The review is led by Director of Education and involves:


  • Pre-planning support with the Headteacher to develop the priority areas and agree the format of the review.
  • A half day review where your staff and our team work together in school to complete a fully collaborative review of the priority areas.
  • A full report with identified strengths and next steps.
  • Up to three days of in-school bespoke support from our School Improvement Lead to work with you and your staff on agreed actions from the review.
  • A half day mid-year progress review with the Director of Education to formally assess progress. 


Leadership Support

  • Three meetings a year with the Headteacher and school leaders to ensure the most appropriate priorities are reflected in the School Improvement plan and a termly review of progress against priorities. Analysis of school data would also be a significant part of these meetings


Professional Learning groups

To support out Primary curriculum we run subject based professional learning groups in: 

  •  English
  • Science
  • Music
  • Design Technology
  •  Maths
  • History
  • Geography

The purpose of these groups is to provide high-quality CPD to our subject leaders who are then empowered to cascade this within their own schools. The groups also use a coaching model to further support subject leaders to develop their leadership qualities and to further refine practice within schools.

Bespoke support

Examples of bespoke support includes:

  • Whole school themed audits e.g. Reading, Writing, EYFS etc
  • Leadership coaching •Tailored CPD
  • 1:1 developmental support for staff
  • Whole school curriculum development

Track record

We have a proven track record of working effectively within all of our schools. Since conversion all of our schools have remained Ofsted Good or better with one school moving to Good after having been RI since 2006.
